Project Idea -- Giving credit where credit is due, this is a variation of a the "Web 'o Spiders" project from Rings & Things supply.

See suggestion at the end for turning this into a Christmas Spider tree ornament

Supply List -
1Snowflake Ornament Form, 6", (03-DA1956-18)
1Strand Tile Glass Beads, 4-5mm, Translucent Orange or choice (04-51-FM5025) or 78 E-beads
1 Pewter Spider Charm, 17mm (10-51-FM7071)
5-6' Colourcraft Black Craft Wire, 26ga. (03-JD26-BLA)
1 Pewter Bee Insect Charm, (10-10CBA965) -- optional
Large Jumpring & Ribbon, or assorted beads, beading wire & crimps -- optional

Tools: Roundnose pliers, wire cutter

To begin, take snowflake form and start wrapping the black wire at the center of form, leaving about 1/2" extra to attach the spider to. With your hand (no tool necessary at this point), wrap the wire counter clockwise around the spokes of the form (see illustration at right). If it's a little wavy or less than "perfect" looking, this is good as it will have a more organic nature to it.

After you've gone around once with wire you can start adding beads. On the next revolution, add one bead on each spoke before you wrap the wire. For the next three revolutions, add two beads before you wire wrap. After that, add three beads at a time for the next two revolutions.
spoke. When you get to the last, outermost "web" of wire, wrap the end of your wire next to the previous wire wrap (see bottom of photo), and trim extra wire.

Use your round nose pliers to make a loop at the end of each spoke. On the bottom loop, attach the bee charm to be the "fly" about to enter the web. Use the extra wire on the inside of the "web" to make a loop for the spider to dangle from. To display, tie a string to top or attach an optional jumpring to top loop and attach to ribbon or cord -- you can also use the strand's extra tile beads to string on beading wire, attaching to the top loop with crimp beads -- then hang in your window or front door as part of your Halloween decorations. What worked well for us was to attach a 6mm jumpring, then run a twisted pendant cord (03-51-FM2144) through the ring until the knotted end worked as a stopper; hang from loop end of cord.

Alternate Christmas Spider Idea: If you like the story of the Christmas spider where the Christ child turns the spider's web to silver threads, use silver colored wire and your choice of bead colors (such as red/green, light blue or silver) to create an ornament for your Christmas tree.
