Drilled Donut Charm Pendants donut pendants

Add loops to the holes in these stone or shell components -- a fairly simple project that will earn you compliments.

Supply List -
Bail with closed end ring, your choice similar to examples at left.
Drilled Donut, Stone (05-DDasst30) or MOP shell (08-MOPmix3), your choice
Charm or other dangle, your choice to match bail
2 Headpins to match bail/charm, 1-2"

Tools: roundnose pliers, wire cutter

donut11. Begin by stringing a head pin through one hole, from the center out in, so that the head of the pin rests on the inside of your drilled donut. If your component is small, you may need to curve your pin slightly to access the hole from the inside.

2. Use your roundnose pliers to form a loop, trim with wire cutters (see graphic below). Repeat with other head pin on second hole so there are outside loops on opposite ends.

donut33. With pliers, rotate the loop open that you want at the top of your pendant. Link the open loop with the end ring of your bail, then rotate the loop closed.

4. Repeat steps with the second loop, attaching your charm or dangle. String the completed pendant on your choice of cord or chain, or use your pendant when stringing a beaded necklace such as in the example on right at top.

5. On your next pendant, you may want to include options such as using two charms attached to the loop with jump rings, or add beads/spacers to the head pins before forming the loop.
