Project Idea -- Mother of Pearl Multi Ring Necklace

A confetti of colors makes a statement that says, "Fun!". Instructions are for an 18" necklace, but you can make the chain as long or short as desired.

Supply List -
18 Mother of Pearl Donut Rings, 15mm, assorted colors
18" Rollo Chain, Silver Plate, 4.5mm (03-51-RT9073) from Bulk Spool
1 Silver Plate Lobster Claw Clasp, 18mm (03-51-FM2103)
19-20 Fancy Jumprings, 8mm, Silver Plate (03-51-FM3557) or choice
1 Plated Jumpring, approx. 5.5mm such as (03-51-FM5282)

Tools: flat nose pliers; Jump Ring Tool (03-51-FM1513) or second pliers

Part of the fun of this necklace is that the colors are all mixed and random, but to begin, you may want to arrange your Mother of Pearl Donut Rings in the groupings desired. Once you're ready to start, fold your piece of chain in half to find the middle and attach your first donut ring here. To do so, use your flat nose pliers and Jump Ring Tool (or other pliers), to gently twist open a Fancy jump ring, then link through a Donut Ring and the selected link of the chain, then twist jump ring closed.

Continue by adding six Donut Rings to the left and six to the right in this manner to every fifth link of the chain. Because this style of chain has distinctively horizontal and vertical links, by adding to the odd number link (Ex.3, 5 or 7.), the jumprings will all hang from the chain evenly. Once you have a row of 13 Donut Rings attached to your chain, attach the remaining five rings, one each to the 3rd, 5th, 7th (center Donut Ring), 9th and 11th Donut Ring on your chain. You may notice that the Donut Rings in these groupings have some overlap (as shown in Detail at left). This helps create the full,overlapping look of the necklace.

Finish by attaching clasp by gently twisting open the 5.5mm jump ring (or just use an additional Fancy Jumpring, optional) and attach to an end link of chain, then twist close. To finish the opposite end, twist open the last remaining fancy jumpring and attach to rollo chain.

You can create matching earrings using two additional Donut Rings, four additional Fancy Jumprings and a pair of earwires (such as 03-51-FM1415). Use a Fancy Jumpring to link together a Donut Ring and a second Fancy Jumpring. Attach earwire, the repeat steps to make second earring..
