Supply
List -
2 Chandelier Finding, 03-CA721AG or choice of style
10 Corrugated round beads 3mm, 06-51-FM2882 or finish choice
10 Czech Fire Polish bead 4mm, 04-51-FM6073 or choice
40 Bugle bead 9mm (aka 4"), 04-0162-19 or choice of color
2 Ball & Coil earwire, 03-51-FM1414 or choice of finish
10 Head pins 2", 03-DA1920-42 or choice of finish
Tools: Round nose pliers
To begin, start by beading a head pin with one 3mm round metal bead, two 9mm bugle beads, a Czech glass bead, then two more bugle beads. (If a head pin is slightly bent, before starting, run it through your thumb and index finger a few times to straighten it.)
Bend
the end to form a loop, using a round nose (aka: needlenose) pliers to
grasp the tip of the wire, and bend it smoothly around the pliers, down close
to the end bugle bead (see illustration at right). Then attach the beaded
headpin to a bottom hole of the chandelier finding, facing loop to back. Repeat
step four times (or as necessary, if using a chandelier finding with less
holes).
Once all the headpins are attached to the chandelier finding, using your pliers,
twist open bottom ring of ear wire and attach to the top of the earring finding,
making sure the hook points away from the front. Repeat above steps for second
earring.
Variation: To use 6mm (aka 3") bugle beads, follow above
directions for beading head pins but add an additional bugle bead on the end
(five bugle beads per head pin instead of four); trim head pin with a wire cutter
if necessary, then form loop and finish earrings as directed above.
