Tools: Round Nose Pliers, Wire Cutter Pliers, optional Bent Nose or Chain Nose Pliers, optional rubbing alcohol
Before starting, clean your disc bead with rubbing alcohol (or other appropriate cleaner) to remove any fingerprints or other oils. Once surface is dry, and you have decided on your choice of design, you may apply stickers to one side of your disc. Stickers typically cannot be moved once applied, so you may want to first cut the sheet into individual stickers, arranging the pieces in a pleasing design (we recommend an asymmetrical grouping),then peal off the back to attach stickers to your disc.
Next, use your wire cutter to cut an approximate 5-6" length of Craft Wire. To create a stopper end to hold your pendant, use your Round Nose Pliers to bend one end of the wire, either making it fold back on itself (see a. at right), OR creating a rounded loop (b.). Place your bottom spacer bead on the wire. If you like the way it sits snugly on the stopper end, continue, otherwise make some adjustments, such as trimming the fold-back portion smaller.
When
ready to continue, add your disc bead, a spacer bead, your Czech Fire Polish
Bead, then another spacer. Once beads are in place, you'll want to create a
loop to attach the bail to. Starting about 1/8" above your top spacer bead,
grasp (with fingers or other pliers) the remaining portion of your wire, bending
it around the smaller end of one jaw of your Round Nose Pliers. The wire should
now cross over itself in kind of an awareness ribbon shape (c. at left).
Holding the loop with your Round Nose Pliers, use fingers or your other pliers to coil end wire around the base wire two or three times, wrapping down barber-pole style, to fill in the space (d.). Once in place, trim the extra wire, if needed rotate the loop to face front, and attach the snap-on bail. You can now attach your pendant to your Velveteen Choker or other desired neck cord. The recommended bail size should work well to slide over most end findings, but if needed, can be opened slightly to snap onto cording.
* Optional: To create a more compact shape, the Fire Polish bead at the top can be omitted. You can also create a larger loop at the top, so you can string your pendant using the loop instead of the addition of a bail. To do so, wrap your wire around the more internal, larger-around portion of your Round Nose Pliers jaws.
