Project Idea -- Beaded Flatware Needed Tools: wire cutter, roundnose pliers

You’ll need your own serving piece. Yard sales, thrift shops & dollar stores are good sources.

1. Select a variety of
tube shape
& flat back
beads
that
are about the width of handle. A serving spoon needs 12-14 beads. Arrange beads smallest to largest.

2.Take approx.3 feet of 26gauge wire, use a round nosepliers (aka: needle nose) to make small coil (about 1cm. around) on the end .

5. Once all beads are strung,
feed wire once more through last bead. Wrap wire a few times around both strands, then -- trim extra wire with a wire cutters if necessary -- use fingers or pliers to tuck end of wire into bead hole.

Beaded flatware makes terrific hostess and holiday gifts. Don't limit yourself to just spoons & forks -- try this technique on candle holders, stemware, handled mirrors or hairbrushes, hair combs and barrette bases, around dowels for potted plant decorations, around a clothespin to create a clip bookmark. See how you can jazz up items with beads.

Hand washing is recommended for completed pieces.
